From the CEO: 2023 Year in Review and a Look Ahead

Kimberly Berneck, President and CEO

This year was a transformational one for BTM Global, and I couldn’t be prouder. After nearly 20 years, my colleague Tom Schoen retired as CEO and continues to be a vital part of our team. I was named CEO in March. New leadership inevitably brings change, but our team has been adaptable and flexible, ensuring that this year of transition was also one of growth and possibility.

All of our practice areas grew in 2023. Our long-term client relationships are our hallmark – we have three clients who have partnered with us for +10 years! – and we continued earning new clients and projects. A client who was lured away from us with a promise of faster and cheaper work came back to BTM for our quality and service. That is the biggest compliment our team can receive, and I’m extremely proud of them.

In a services-based industry, the most important differentiator is our people. In light of the pandemic and a new emphasis on virtual work, we are refining expectations and reshaping our business environment so that we meet the needs of our clients and our employees. One of the most satisfying parts of my job has been working with the team in new ways, and being able to focus on all practice areas of the BTM business. Everyone on our extended leadership team has stepped up, and watching them grow and adapt has been very exciting.

Shifting economic conditions and financial trends in 2023 forced many industries – especially retail and manufacturing – to be flexible. Investments in technology infrastructure projects were slow to start in Q1 and Q2, but 2023 is coming to a very busy close.

At BTM, we are laser-focused on being a full-service delivery partner. This includes functional teams, technical teams, testers, senior architects and many others. No one should have to shop around for 3-4 partners; we invest in our full-service teams and have earned a reputation for nimble work and speed.

We want to be your partner for the long haul. That’s why 99% of our team are employees, not contractors, including our off-shore team. We aim to provide consistent, efficient experts who are available 24 hours a day to support our clients’ ever-changing demands and to support their customers over the course of years – not just a one-off project.

A client told me, “Most partners are very focused on the stated scope of a project. BTM is the only one who asks our team, ‘What can we do to help?’” That big-picture thinking and flexibility are why BTM has been a success in its first 20 years and why I’m determined to grow further in the coming decades.
