LV43Meet the Team: Trung Le, Project Manager

At BTM Global, we believe our work is about more than just technology. It’s about our people and our relationships with clients and colleagues. We hope this “Meet the Team” series gives you a better understanding of the personalities and passions that make up BTM Global!

No day is ever the same at BTM, and that variety is what attracts people like Trung Le. He’s been with our Vietnam team for nearly a decade, and he still enjoys the challenge of always learning something new. We talked with Trung to hear his take on BTM’s best kept secret and his office reputation of tic-tac-toe skills.

What are your responsibilities at BTM?

As a project manager in our Vietnam office, I am responsible for evaluating, estimating and planning projects, along with coordinating, monitoring and supervising them to make sure they are completed successfully – all within a given budget, timeline and quality criteria.

I also play a key role in coordinating and bridging the gaps between the Vietnam and U.S. development centers, to contributing to process and methodology improvements, and to creating a healthy working environment.

What made you want to join the BTM Global team?

Before joining BTM, I had experience developing telecom and manufacturing software. But I was also interested in retail, so I decided to take a chance with BTM and get involved in that industry.

What excites you about your work?

The retail world is changing rapidly, and so retail technology is also changing. I enjoy my work because there’s always something new to learn, and project management requires a number of skills around communication, decision making, delegation and risk management. I like working within these different areas and with different kinds of people; there’s always something new that arises from managing complex projects – and I have talented people who support me!

I also enjoy watching our projects go live, and seeing the clients use the software we’ve developed to improve their business. I love that part of my job.

What do you wish others in the industry knew about BTM?

We have a good management team. We care about our employees – not only in their daily work but also with regards to their families. BTM respects personal time with family and friends, and they understand that work isn’t everything.

IMG_4600Tell us about your life outside of work.

I just got married, and my wife and I like to go out on the weekends. I enjoy travelling, watching comedy videos and playing sports. I play Chinese chess, tic-tac-toe and badminton well. In fact, I recently got first prize in our office’s Chinese chess, tic-tac-toe and badminton competition!
