Perry Ellis Deploys Oracle Retail Release 14 to Enable Commerce Anywhere Capabilities and Support International Growth

Retailer’s IT upgrade streamlines cross-channel access to store and e-commerce inventories and improves pricing, promotion, and international POS functionalities

Oracle Industry Connect, Washington DC – March 26, 2015 Apparel retailer and wholesaler Perry Ellis International upgraded its major retail systems to Oracle Retail Release 14 to deliver a commerce anywhere experience in which inventory is available to fulfill customer purchases from any channel. The move to this latest release will also unite Perry Ellis’ US and European retail stores with a single global instance of Oracle Retail Merchandising System that serves both markets. The company can also take advantage of the expanded international transaction, tax, and fiscal functionalities built into the latest
version of the Oracle Retail solutions.

Already a long-time Oracle customer, Perry Ellis began the upgrade to Oracle Retail Release 14 applications in April 2014 as part of a companywide initiative to enable merchandising, marketing, and fulfillment operations that better serve customers regardless of how and where they shop. Included in the upgrade are implementations of Oracle Retail Merchandising System, Oracle Retail Price Management, Oracle Retail Sales Audit, Oracle Retail Allocation, Oracle Retail Store Inventory Management, and Oracle Retail Central Office. These solutions enhance performance and scalability, and provide a platform for the company’s growth plans. Seamless integration across its back-end systems helps simplify and enrich the business user experience.

The improved features in Oracle Retail Allocation allow Perry Ellis to quickly and efficiently determine inventory requirements at the item and location level, even as the retailer accelerates its international expansion. Oracle Retail Store Inventory Management provides real-time, multichannel inventory access to empower associates, improve customer service, and reduce costs. In addition, Perry Ellis is using Oracle Retail Price Management to increase the efficiency of its sales and promotion processes.

The Perry Ellis business portfolio includes internationally recognized brands sold through its own retail stores in the US and Europe, as well as via e-commerce channels and third-party retailers. While this complex structure raises the profile of Perry Ellis and its owned and licensed brands, it also creates fulfillment challenges that the company seeks to meet with cross-channel inventory availability.

“We are committed to providing a consistent shopping experience and to meeting customer expectations across channels by aligning pricing, promotions, and inventory availability online and in-store,” said Luis Paez, chief information officer, Perry Ellis International. “With Oracle Retail Release 14, we have a consistent view of all inventory, so we can offer customers any product we have in stock regardless of where it resides.”

With the Oracle Retail Sales Audit upgrade, Perry Ellis can now link customer order numbers to individual items within an order. “This gives us the functionality to ship different items from different locations, to ‘mix and match’ within a single transaction,” said Paez. Additionally, the company can use Oracle Retail Sales Audit to meet local government regulatory requirements for computing taxes at the individual item level, beyond the transaction level. This additional reporting
eliminates the need for a third-party software program.

To help facilitate and accelerate the upgrade, Perry Ellis worked with BTM Global, a Gold-level member of Oracle PartnerNetwork. BTM Global provided a full range of systems integration services, including functional and technical design work, custom integration points, interface designs, development and testing, and scripting through training and user-focused testing.

“We are pleased to be part of the growth with long-time customer Perry Ellis as it continues to expand worldwide,” said Jill Puleri, senior vice president and general manager for Oracle Retail. “Serving the global consumer with a true commerce anywhere experience requires a powerful, cohesive IT foundation. Oracle Retail Release 14 provides the solutions retailers require to enable modern commerce.”
