Meet the Team: Kyle Wittet, Solution Architect Manager

Kyle_WittetAt BTM Global, we believe our work is about more than just technology. It’s about our people and our relationships with clients and colleagues. We hope this “Meet the Team” series gives you a better understanding of the personalities and passions that make up BTM Global!

Kyle Wittet doesn’t take the easy road in life. Here at BTM, he loves the challenge and uniqueness that each of our clients brings to the table – and figuring out how to build a solution that will best solve their problems. Outside of work, his passion for building is channeled into his 1965 Shelby Cobra replica that he recently completed. We caught up with Kyle to learn how these two very different environments fuel his love of creating, building and designing.

What are your responsibilities at BTM?

As a solution architect manager, I am responsible for ensuring solution architects play a strategic role in helping client stakeholders design leading-edge solutions targeted to their organization’s strategy. Put another way, my team develops and designs custom solutions to meet our clients’ challenges.

What made you want to join the BTM Global team?

I worked with Andy Huynh at Retek prior to its acquisition by Oracle. After we left Retek, he and I kept in touch and I ended up helping BTM partner with a client that I was engaged with – they had some challenges around a POS implementation. From then on, I continued to partner with BTM and eventually joined the company because I found that the culture and respect for employees is altogether different.

What excites you about your work?

Each client brings uniqueness that makes one think outside the box. There has never been a “simple” client engagement – whether it’s how to get uniforms to Navy Seals killed in action in Afghanistan less than 24 hours ago, or more typical issues like making bounce-back coupons function and display correctly on a receipt. It’s all in a day’s work at BTM!

What do you wish others in the industry knew about BTM?

The best kept secret about BTM is its executive management and how they interact with employees. Having worked for many companies in the last 25 years, the culture and caring at BTM Global is completely different from every other company I have worked with. They truly care about their employees and are sensitive to the fact that our business regularly takes us away from our families; they respect and honor personal time with family and friends.

Tell us about your life outside of work.

My latest achievement is building my 1965 Shelby Cobra replica. It is something I have thought about for the past decade and finally started in the fall of 2015. It was roadworthy by June of 2016. While a Shelby Cobra isn’t everyone’s choice for a car – it’s been termed “the scariest car to drive” and “brutally fast” – I love that it’s loud, it’s fast and it smells. It’s an American icon.

I think differently when I work on my hobbies. I might be casting for Stripers and a work-related issue comes to mind and suddenly a solution springs to life in my brain. Or when I focus on the challenges of driving a Shelby Cobra, my mind clears of all the minor stuff and allows me to better focus on a problem plaguing one of my clients.
