Brian VMeet the Team: Brian Verkinderen, Retail Account Executive and Sports Fanatic

At BTM Global, we believe our work is about more than just technology. It’s about our people and our relationships with clients and colleagues. We hope this “Meet the Team” series gives you a better understanding of the personalities and passions that make up BTM Global!

Brian Verkinderen joined our team nearly five years ago. He wanted to be part of a company that was agile, offered more career growth and responsibility, and that had a great culture. A self-proclaimed sports fanatic, we sat down with Brian to learn why his time at BTM has been a home run.

Why did you join BTM?
I was recruited by Andy, and at the same time I was ready to work for a more nimble company that could deliver projects faster and more efficiently than what I experienced at much larger firms. BTM allows its employees to really own a project, which fosters personal growth and a better experience for the client. Plus, I knew the management team and working environment would be collaborative and supportive.

What do you do here?
I was hired as a solution architect responsible for overseeing the Oracle Retail Merchandising implementations. Now, as a retail account executive, I establish new retail business in North America, develop account sales, maintain existing client relationships and work closely with our partners at Oracle on joint opportunities.

What do you like best about your work?
BTM has an exceptional track record of delivering projects and satisfying clients, and I appreciate the flexible and fun team members who are willing to work hard to get the job done. As the account executive, this makes my job very simple. It’s exciting to see how far we’ve grown in the last five years and I’m extremely excited to see where we go in the next five years.

What should everyone know about BTM Global?
We have a unique approach to ensuring successful project delivery. I know other companies say that, but we’ve proven it over and over for more than a decade. That really says something about this company, our culture and how we operate.

Other than retail technology, what are your interests?
I enjoy spending time with my family: We go to the lake cabin in the summer and we fish, water ski and swim. In the winter, we go ice skating, rock wall climbing and bowling. I love sports and I grew up playing basketball, baseball and anything else I could get my hands on. Nowadays, I golf and play softball once a week in between running the kids around town.

What have been your biggest professional or personal accomplishments?
I’m especially proud of our work with Deckers Brands and Perry Ellis – both projects were complex, and we leveraged our strategy and ingenuity to deliver them successfully.

Personally, I recorded my first-ever hole-in-one this past year at the Wild’s Golf Course in Prior Lake, Minnesota on hole #3!
